Veterans Town Hall Meeting

The Westchester County Veterans Service Agency is hosting a town hall meeting next week at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Representatives from a number of organizations will be on hand to answer questions on a myriad of topics.

The agenda will include presentations on veteran housing and educational oportunities; employment and counseling; the new property tax credit for “Cold War’’ vets, the “Canines for Combat Veterans” program and long term care insurance.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. That’s 1730 to 1930 for you hard core types.

    Its time to start to get as many veterans groups working to create a veterans village. If the va will not sell the land at montose then consider leaseing a 99 year lease, it works the same way as ownership. Second when you get all people working on this idear you can at least start to create a plan Fund rasing etc. At last count i believe we have over 195,000 homeless veterans in our country The time is now all it takes is that first step them more Iam interested in helping.A dissabled veteran a senior and grandparent thank you joe cohen

KatieRich Liebson is a "military brat" who grew up on bases in the U.S. and Germany during his father's 23-year career as an Air Force enlisted man. Rich enlisted in the Army in 1976 and until his discharge in 1980 was assigned to the 78th Engineer Battalion in Ettlingen, Germany, as a public information specialist and translator. While in India she wrote about the insurgency in Indian-controlled Kashmir and covered the 1999 India-Pakistan conflict in the mountains of Kashmir. She joined The Journal News in 2002. She has covered municipal government in Westchester and now covers on social services in Rockland as well as military issues.
