That is wonderful news. Go to Operation Gratitude’s web site, I do believe that they do something for the soldiers return. As far as local organizations, I am not sure. I would check with your son’s Unit Family Readiness Group. In fact, if you do not know who a contact person is within the FRG contact me directly and I will find out for you. I can be reached on yahoo (richiegirl0204). I have several email addresses but that is the only one I feel comfortable putting on this type of format.

I just got word from my son that he left Iraq on Saturday and is at another location getting ready to return home to the US. It has been 7 long months and finally I am seeing the light that my only son will be home soon. I will continue to pray for the safe return of all the other young men and women still fighting for peace in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thanks for a job well done and come home to your family and friends soon. Does anyone know of any organization in Rockland or Lo-Hud area that officially welcomes our troops home?

Thanks, Laura. Please keep us posted on how your husband, the unit, and the families are doing, and we’ll share the news with our readers.

We can also help spread the word if the soldiers need anything, in terms of care packages, etc., while they’re overseas. (When a friend of mine was serving in Afghanistan, he said his unit loved getting books and DVDs, especially.)

Thanks LoHud for the coverage you have provided about the 812th Military Police Battalion (Combat Support) I will make sure that the unit is informed of your great coverage.
As a wife of a soldier from this unit, and the Family Readiness Group Coordinator, I have made it a point and will continue to make it a point to keep our families and soldiers informed of what is going on.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our soldiers on Sunday as they left. To any family members of this unit, please feel free to contact me if you need anything. If I don’t have the answer, I will get it for you.
